Cruising into New Friendships

The obvious reason cruisers quickly make friends with one another is the common interest of sailing. Everyone knows that common interests are an excellent basis for friendship. Conversation topics are easy to come by as everyone can contribute to subjects like “where have you been,” “what kind of XYZ do you carry on board,” “where are you heading next,” “do you happen to know how to repair ABC?” and other live aboard topics. And if those don’t start a conversation, just ask a cruiser which anchor he has and why he chose it. A lively conversation is sure to follow. (You might not care, but an opinion will be had!)

We were in Washington, NC checking up on our boat, which had been on the hard for a few months during the winter, and doing a few projects. Through our YouTube channel @sailingoutofsight we had become acquainted with Tim and Kim. They happened to be passing thru this area of North Carolina at the same time and were kind enough to stop so that we could meet in person. We had a nice long visit and lunch together at Down On Mainstreet.

They are located on their boat Blue Jeans up in New Hampshire. Since we will be heading that direction in the spring, we now have friends to look forward to meeting up again and possibly some Buddy Boating so they can show us that area of the East Coast.
